Being Born

Dasha Buben (b. 1982, Gomel, Belarus) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans photography, painting, and drawing, shaped by her background in independent media and political activism. Her work engages with themes of feminism, trauma, mental health, and emotional states, evolving from documentary approaches toward abstraction following the Belarusian protests of 2020. Now based in Berlin, Buben’s practice reflects a deeply personal and political inquiry into healing, displacement, and the psychological impact of lived experience.
